The expectant waiting and celebration of Jesus Christ.

This year I created a version of the famous Noel Piper advent Calendar.

Here is the story that I wrote to go with the calendar…

The Advent Story

Jesus is the greatest Treasure of all. This is the story of how he came to us.

Long ago, God made a promise about a little town named Bethlehem. He said, “O Bethlehem . . . from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel.” Jesus is the King God promised to send.

One time, a long time ago…

Dec. 1st…there was a Righteous Priest named Zacharias.

Dec. 2nd…he was married to Elizabeth. She too was righteous in the sight of God. She had no children and was very old. Until…

Dec. 3rd…Gabriel, angel of the Lord visited Zacharias and told him your wife Elizabeth will Have a son, and you will give him the name John. John will be the one to announce the lord is coming!

Dec. 4th…it came time for Elizabeth to give birth to her son. After she gave birth she gave him the name John like the Angel had said. Zacharias lovingly said to his baby John, “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,”

Dec. 5th…Gabriel the angel of the Lord, also, went to visit Mary. He told her, you have found favor with God. And behold, you will Give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

Dec. 6th… JOSEPH was mary’s husband and an angel of God, Also, talked to him. in a dream The angel said, “This baby is from God. You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” This baby was the king God had promised. This Baby would be the Lord.

Dec. 7th… in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.

Dec. 8th… So Joseph took Mary and they traveled to Bethlehem. They May have rode a donkey to help them on their journey.

Dec. 9th… When They got there they wanted to stay in an inn, but there was no room for them. They decided to stay in the stable.

Dec. 10th… High above the stable, in the sky Over Bethlehem there was a very special star

Dec. 11th… some very wise men saw the special star and knew an important king had been born. They went to King Herod asking about this special star and the king that had been born. King Herod became nervous and sent the wise men to look for the babe.

Dec. 12th…As the Wise men got their camels and prepared for their trip they decided to take this baby king some very extraordinary gifts.

Dec. 13th…One Wiseman took the…

Dec. 14th… royal gift of gold

Dec. 15th… Another wise man chose to take the gift of…

Dec. 16th…rich perfume called frankincense for this special king

Dec. 17th… The last wise man wanted to bring…

Dec. 18th…the precious oil, myrrh, to give the king.

Dec. 19th …Now Outside the city of Bethlehem In a nearby field there was a Shepherd

Dec. 20th. …watching over his Sheep at night

Dec. 21st… Along with the other shepherds and their sheep. an Angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them all and said Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news…

Dec. 22nd… of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Dec. 23rd… And suddenly with the one Angel there was a host of angels singing (3)

Dec. 24th… The Host of Angels (3) Were Singing Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.

Dec. 25th… When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the BABY JESUS lying in the manger.

And when they saw Him, they told everything the angel had said to them. And everyone who heard it wondered. But Mary treasured up all these things, thinking about them in her heart.

And the shepherds returned to their flock, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.

When Jesus grew up, he died on the cross, and rose from the dead to save us from our sins. He is our greatest gift and Treasure!
